Do you ever just need to hit the pause button? Well if you're anything like me, then the answer is yes, like a really big YES.

 

I have found that there are hidden sanctuaries all over Bergen County that bring me a sense of calm and peace. On a beautiful fall, spring or summer day, I head over to my favorite — Darlington County Park in Mahwah. Sometimes I walk the trails, other times I bring my yoga mat and just sit in silence and take in the beautiful surroundings.

 

I find a great sense of release in being amongst trees, mountains and water, whereas others may prefer something different altogether. Without sounding too "crunchy granola," I find it so wonderful to look around and see something that is so much bigger than you and I and our everyday routines. 

 

Whatever that sense of serenity looks like to you, just remember to take a minute for yourself, soak up nature and just be. And if you're lucky, you may spot these majestic swans.
