IN THE NUDE

Who doesn’t love a barely there lip?

A good nude lipstick is a beauty staple that can save you day in and day out. The right color can be the perfect compliment to a smoky eye, colored eyeshadow/eyeliner, bronzer/highlighter or just simply worn on its own.

Since I have very fair skin, I look for more beige colors with slight pink undertones. Medium and dark skin would look best with brown based hues with warmer undertones.

You never want to dull your complexion, and going too light may do that.

Helpful hint:

Nude lips look best when the color is one shade lighter or darker then your complexion, rather then an exact match. Steer clear of “whites” and look for colors that combine equal amounts of warm and cool tones, think your lips but better

Pictured are just a few of my favorite shades. I have always been preferential to MAC lipsticks simply because of the quality of their products as well as the endless color options for lipsticks.

My current favorites that I have in rotation are:

Creme D’Nude

A creme based lipstick (Cremesheen) with bright, full color and subtle shine. It is a pink toned, fleshy nude with a slight shine finish. I recommend lining the lips first prior to application. I use Mac lip pencil in “Whirl."

Velvet Teddy

A deep tone beige with a matte, non-drying finish (more of a satin). I recommend lining the lips with Jordana Easy Liner for lips in “Rock and Rose.” This liner is a nice alternative to the more expensive, department store brands.

Brave

A soft, rosy neutral pink with a satin finish. This creamy formula has just the right amount of shine. Try a soft pink liner prior to application. I like Milani lipliner in number 13. Also another nice alternative to more pricey brands.

Would love to hear some of your favorites!

Stay smiling!
Jennifer
