SHINE ON: WHERE TO HIGHLIGHT

Fresh-faced, dewy, glowing skin can be yours with a technique that we've seen for a while, but now I'm going to show you how YOU can achieve it. STROBING has been seen on a ton of celebrities and now you can wear this beautiful makeup look during the day, or at night (shown above).

First, I want to note, that the technique of highlighting has been used in the makeup industry for a very long time. This has recently taken center stage because celebrities started "strobing."

The main difference between highlighting and strobing, is that highlighting is usually paired with contouring, and strobing is highlight that works alone, followed by setting sprays or other dewy products.

X marks the spot! Follow below when applying highlighter.

  • Focus the highlighter on the highest point of your cheekbones, they reflect the most light. Here I used MAC Cosmetics Strobe Cream in “Silverlite” — ($34, Bloomingdale's). For my fair skin tone, I prefer icy white colors. For darker complexions, gold is stunning.

  •  Dab that strobe cream around the outer corners of your eyes, under the brow bone and above the arch of your brow bone. This will draw attention to high points on your face. It is also extremely flattering in pictures. I intensified the highlight under my brow bone by using my NYX jumbo eye pencil in “Milk, ” — $4.50 (Ulta Beauty). Doing this creates the illusion of a higher brow arch.

  • Place the strobe cream on the tip of your nose, above your cupids bow and lastly on your collarbone.

  • I then intensified the highlighter by wetting a very dense shadow brush with some setting spray and over all the areas I mentioned above, brushed MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish in “Soft and Gentle,” —($34, Bloomingdale's).

  • I wanted a little more pop around my eyes, so I went back in with the Killawatt highlighter by Fenty Beauty in “Metal Moon,” — ($34, Sephora).

  • To finish off the look, spray a very generous amount of MAC’s Prep & Prime “Fix & Goldlite.” Don’t be scared to go crazy with this step :) ($26, Bloomingdale's)

Stay smiling!
